“There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have.” – Howard Thurman
As men, we often define ourselves by what we do, what we know, who we know. We fear truly living or relating because we don’t know how others might accept us. We can spend a lifetime searching but somehow miss discovering our authentic selves.
The Sound of the Genuine: Engaging Your Inner Man is a retreat that invites you to walk some different paths for discovering and honoring your True Self. In the midst of nature and through Ritual, small groups, contemplative time and other active learning, we will together move towards living more full and whole lives in service to ourselves and our world.
- Learning to hear the Sound of the Genuine within oneself (quieting the other voices and distractions)
- Learning to hear the Sound of the Genuine in Others (releasing judgments & expectations by truly seeing the “Other”) – Being led by new and often unexpected encounters – Accessing inner wisdom – Breaking Free from our cages
“When you get rid of your fear of failure, your tensions about succeeding….you can be yourself. Relaxed. You’ll no longer be driving with your brakes on.”- Anthony De Mello
