Is Jesus of Nazareth actually like Clark Kent trying to prove he is not Superman?  Our Christian tradition holds that Jesus is truly human and truly divine.  At different times we stress his divinity and at other times we stress his humanity.  These days too many people seem to believe that his divinity destroyed or underwhelms his humanity.  He came to reveal God and us.  It is easier to adore the divine than to follow Jesus our brother in the flesh.

A healthy and theological reflection of Jesus in his humanity can help us more deeply understand ourselves as beloved sons of God.  He defines blessed humanity and healthy masculinity as God creates and sustains us.

Fr. Bob Colaresi will lead a reflection and open a dialogue about the humanity of Jesus.  The only title Jesus ever used was “son of man,” even as he wrestled with his deeper identity and intimacy.  By embracing every aspect of humanity he divinized us.  Any element left out of his humanity would not have been saved, when “he emptied himself and took on the nature of a slave.” (Phil. 2-7).  He combines them together, which is our Journey of Illumination.
